THE RESTORATION OF ALL THINGS

THE RESTORATION OF ALL THINGS

The Christian faith has “a strong and focused sense of the future, with belief in the Second Coming of Yeshua (1) as the most distinctive detail  … He told them he was coming back. They believed he was coming back. They continue to believe it. For Christians, it is the most important thing to know and believe about the future.” — Eugene Peterson

Our enthusiasm that we may be in the last days before his return, coupled with the eagerness of many expecting to be immanently raptured out of the most dire time in history, has not escaped the notice of the world. It is a picture that leaves a lot to be desired. What does it say about American Christianity? And how do such expectations color our boldness in taking our stand in the present battle for Truth?

Yeshua came the first time as the suffering servant (Isa 53) to become the blood sacrifice that would wash away sin and destroy the work of the evil one. He comes back as the conquering warrior King to enforce what is done, to take back that which belongs to him, and to restore all things.

Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets“–Acts 3:21

What is the most prevalent comprehensive prophecy in both the Old and New Testaments? What is the culminating event in biblical prophecy? It is the restoration of all things, when GOD will come to establish justice in the earth, deal with evil and restore the earth to its original beauty..

On this mountain He will swallow up the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; He will swallow up death forever. The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face and remove the disgrace of His people from the whole earth. For the LORD has spoken. And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited. Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”… Isaiah 25:7-9

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. ‘ He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.” And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.”… Revelation 21:3-5

God has said He will do this in prophecies dating all the way back to Enoch. When the restoration of all things becomes our driving hunger, it will hasten his return.

Do you feel the world is broken? (We do)
Do you feel the shadows deepen? (We do)
But do you know that all the dark won’t stop the light from getting through? (We do)
Do you wish that you could see it all made new? (We do)

Is all creation groaning? (It is). Is a new creation coming? (It is)

Is the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst? (It is)

Is it good that we remind ourselves of this? (It is)

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole? Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?

The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave, He is David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave

Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy of this?
He is! (2)

Chris Tomlinson, Is He Worthy?

GOD coming to restore all things is the central greatest prophecy shared by both Christians and Jews in both The Old Testament and The New. But have we understood it for what it is?

Yes, in those days and at that time, when I restore Judah and Jerusalem from captivity, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning My peopleMy inheritance,Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations as they divided up My land. Joel 3:1,2

The restoration of all things will be the return of His inheritance to HimThe Jubilee of Jubilees.
