KEEPER OF PROMISES

KEEPER OF PROMISES

If conspiracy theories could be seen, they would be like dark winds doing violent battle, stirring up chaos, churning up fear, and turning men’s minds from God. . But it only makes the indisputable evidence of God’s hand moving through, and even using, the conspiracies of men all the more precious. Jonathan Cahn’s revelations in The Oracle, concerning the birth of modern Israel, are like light bursting through the chaos, as God advances what He has said He will do.

The Turks of the Ottoman Empire, believing their rule would last forever, had a saying: “When the waters of the Nile flow into Palestine, then will a prophet of the Lord come and drive the Turks out of this land.” It was meant to show the impossibility of such an event taking place. But in 1917, as British General Edmund Allenby marched across North Africa, taking Egypt, he lacked water for his troops. So he lay a pipeline under the Suez Canal, across the desert, causing thousands of gallons of fresh water to flow  from the Nile into Palestine each day. Allenby’s name also sounded very much like Allah-en-Nebi, which means  “prophet of God” to the Arabs. (1)

The prophet, Daniel, told us, “Blessed is he who waits and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.” (2)  That number began to show up all over the Middle East in 1917, because 1917 was the year 1335 on the Muslim calendar. If the number 1335 signifies the removal of that which restrains God’s purpose, then it is significant that in the Muslim year 1335, the Ottoman caliphate would be removed from power.

Allenby’s first victory against the Ottomans, at Beersheba, on October 31st, 1917, marked Britain’s first major victory in the Middle East. It just happened to be the same day the British War Cabinet approved the Balfour Declaration. (God has promised to bless those who bless Abraham and to curse those who curse him)

The Parasha read by Jews all over the world on that Sabbath contained the first mention of Beersheba in Scripture, describing the contention between Abraham’s servants and the Arabs over a well.

In the Battle for Jerusalem, British pilots drove the German pilots, allied with the Ottomans, out of the sky, protecting the city in the midst of the war. Through its long history, Jerusalem had seen countless armies, chariots, horses, and siege works—but not until the war of 1917 would Isaiah’s prophecy take on the meaning it did.  On December 8, 1917, the last full day of fighting, British soldiers opened their Book of Common Prayer to read  “Like birds flying, so the LORD of hosts will protect Jerusalem; he will protect and deliver it; he will spare and rescue it.”  Isaiah 31:5 The British air command was only a few years old, but God used them, like birds flying, to protect Jerusalem.

And those who flew over Jerusalem at the time of its deliverance belonged to the No. 14 Squadron, whose motto was, “I spread my wings and keep my promise.”

A prophecy from Haggai was never fulfilled until 1917. Haggai had recorded God’s promise that on the 24th day of the 9th month, “I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of Gentile kingdoms.”  The twenty-fourth day of the ninth month in 1917 was December 9th—the day Jerusalem was liberated—the day its two thousand year Gentile occupation came to an end. (3)

Like light breaking through dark wind and storm, these events burst through, obviously orchestrated by God to speak to all who have ears to hear. No message is more important for a land that is being so hotly contested.

We are living in a time of intense deception and offense at each other. The offense will take us out spiritually, Offense will shut you in and shut you down, every time–to what God is saying and doing. to reach you.

A veil has laid over us for a long time, but that veil is being lifted. We see the growing evidence of leaders in powerful places with allegiances that lie elsewhere, who have betrayed their own people. Not just in our own country, but in Israel too. As I contemplate the spiritual battle field, I think about the “coincidences” above, just a few of the many God has wrought as He has advanced His purpose for Israel. . . He shows a deft sense of humor concerning men’s words, but a fierce seriousness where His own word is concerned. He alone is worthy of our faith. He alone will do what He has said He will do.

On a treacherous battlefield where few things are what they seem, He stands as a keeper of promises. Our light in the storm.
