Gone

My friend and collaborator, David Cato, died early Friday morning, January 20th, 2012, at 2:00 AM of kidney failure. As an artist his work shines throughout this website; as a man the lingering beauty of who he was shines on in my heart.
Humble, professional, sweet, dear, a great encourager, and so greatly gifted — He is precious — now more than ever.
In these weeks since his Christmas Eve awakening, his last gift to me was the much needed information that was irretrievably locked away in his mind. . .  the logins, pass-codes, subscription lists, and body of work that keep this website alive. . . a small measure of comfort in the loss of  his light, his thoughts, his self-effacing humor, his heart.
He takes with him the treasure of his company, but not before scattering bright tokens among us,  who knew him by any measure. I will hold what he gave me–fiercely grateful–remembering him always.
He will be deeply missed.
